The Private Investment Nobody Told You About Can Undo the Plan.
You drafted a careful estate plan. Then your client bought into a private real estate deal you never saw. L5 Legacy Capital, a veteran-led sponsor in Frisco, Texas, investing in Texas and Louisiana, helps estate-planning attorneys get ahead of that moment with client education, our Sponsor Due Diligence Checklist and two-way introductions. We pay no referral fees.
A short call with Byron Kizzie, our Managing Partner. No referral fees. No client information needed.
What happens when a private investment surprises the estate?
The plan stalls. Years later, the executor finds a private real estate interest with transfer restrictions nobody read, no statements on file and a sponsor who won't return calls. The heirs are stuck. The administration drags. And the family remembers whose plan didn't work.
It usually starts with a pitch your client never mentioned to you. The fix is better questions before they sign, not better cleanup after.
How does L5 work with estate-planning attorneys?
As an education partner that sends every legal question back to you.
"Building a Legacy With Real Assets" sessions
A free, invitation-only client session co-presented by your firm and L5. You cover planning. We cover how private real estate works: ownership, illiquidity, hold periods, transfer restrictions and reporting. No offering details from your stage.
The Sponsor Due Diligence Checklist
The questions to ask any sponsor before investing, including us: who has money in, who gets paid first, how interests transfer, what reporting heirs will receive. Give it to clients before they sign, not after.
Accredited-investor verification letters
Licensed attorneys are recognized under Rule 506(c). A written confirmation verifying accredited status within the prior three months satisfies SEC requirements. We provide the format we accept. Always your decision.
Two-way introductions
Our investors are accredited professionals, business owners and veterans building wealth they intend to pass on. When they need an estate-planning attorney, we introduce attorneys we trust.
What makes L5 a sponsor suited to legacy planning?
- Founders' money goes in first, and limited partners are paid a preferred return before founders share in profits.
- About 100 deals reviewed to choose two to five, with the exit planned before the purchase so the family knows the plan for the asset.
- Transfer terms in writing: Transfer provisions and eligible owners are set out in the offering documents, walked through before anyone invests.
- Records heirs can find: Fund investors receive quarterly updates via InvestNext, and we publish every project in the fund.
- Veteran founders with a full-cycle record: Byron is a 20-year Army veteran with 15-plus years in real estate development.
- Realized result: Northeast Louisiana workforce housing delivered a 1.5x equity multiple in under 15 months on a $2.25M project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does L5 pay referral fees to attorneys?
No. L5 Legacy Capital pays no referral fees or transaction-based compensation, in either direction. Partnerships are built on client education, verification letters and two-way introductions.
Can a client hold an L5 investment through a trust or entity?
It depends on the entity and offering documents. Eligible owners are set out there, and any investing entity must meet accredited-investor requirements. We walk through options before they invest.
What happens to an L5 interest when an investor dies?
The interest passes under the investor's estate plan and the transfer provisions in the offering documents. L5 works with the executor or trustee to document the transfer.
Can heirs exit before the hold ends?
Plan on holding to the end. Private real estate is illiquid, any early-exit options are defined in the offering documents, and we explain them beforehand.
